At New Leaf Homes, we’ve always believed that community is more than just a place. It’s a feeling. It’s neighbors who become friends. Shared moments that become memories. And a shared desire to give back. That’s why we’re honored to announce that New Leaf Homes has been awarded Best Philanthropic Outreach Event at the 2025 Epcon National Conference.
This recognition celebrates the incredible success of Unleashed, our charity event held in September 2024 at The Retreat at Rosemont. Organized by our residents and hosted in partnership with One of a Kind Pets, the day was a heartfelt expression of what makes our community truly special: compassion, connection, and a commitment to giving back.
A Community Effort from the Heart
Held on a sunny afternoon at our community clubhouse, Unleashed brought together people and pets alike for a day of fun and purpose. Residents turned out in full force, many with their furry companions in tow, for activities that included a lively pet parade, photo ops, and a gift basket auction that raised critical funds for our local partner shelter.
Every dollar raised went directly to One of a Kind Pets, a beloved local nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals in need. From funding food and medical care to providing a safe place for animals waiting for forever homes, the impact of this event was tangible and deeply felt.
Why This Award Matters
The Best Philanthropic Outreach Event award from Epcon Communities recognizes not just generosity, but also community spirit. Judged by the number of attendees, media attention, and total funds raised, the honor affirms what we’ve always known: when you build communities designed for connection, good things happen.

What started as a simple idea, to gather for a good cause, became something much bigger. Unleashed reminded us all that small acts of kindness, when multiplied by a caring community, can create real and lasting change.
As we look ahead to Reservation Night this summer at our newest community, The Retreat at Cobblestone, we’re more inspired than ever to keep building not just homes, but moments like these. We’re proud of the residents, volunteers, and partners who made Unleashed possible and we’re honored to receive this national recognition.
